When a property becomes empty, for instance when the owner has died, it can be very difficult to obtain cover because most insurance companies do not wish to insure homes that are unoccupied. Worse still, the very few providers of insurance for empty homes will not usually consider properties for sale because they are aware that the insurance will be cancelled after just a few weeks or months.
We can usually offer comprehensive insurance (very similar to an ordinary household policy and includes cover for theft, vandalism, subsidence, storm, flood and fire etc). However, in exceptional circumstances cover is restricted to "FLEA" which is just Fire, Lightning, Explosion, Impact by Aircraft and (usually) Property Owners Liability". Some of our clients choose this cover because it is normally much cheaper than comprehensive cover (around half of the cost). We offer you the choice of this cover in our form below.
Policies are available for 90 days, 182 days, 273 days and 12 months.
